All hydrants on the township water system are flushed twice a year to flush out any rust that may have accumulated in the water mains. Residents may expect to see rusty/discolored water during the times that hydrants are being flushed in their area. Residents can run cold water for 10-15 minutes or until the water runs clear. It is recommended that the residents do not do laundry when the flushing is occurring in their area.
If you notice a sustained decrease in pressure or are unable to flush out the discoloration, please contact the system operator at (810) 632-9405 or the Township Public Works Director at (810) 632-7498 ext. 262
