Four cemeteries, dating back to the early 1800s, are operated by Hartland Township. Each cemetery has a distinctly historic atmosphere and is available only to Township residents.
Hartland Cemetery is located on Hartland Road in the Village area, across from Cromaine Library.
Hodge Cemetery is located on Fenton Road near Read Road. This is the only cemetery of the four that offers Columbarium niches for the memorialization of cremated remains. This is also the only cemetery with lots being sold (in the new part of the cemetery).
Gravesites are $550 each
Columbarium Niche for cremated remains:
$450 for a single niche (houses one urn)
$750 for a double niche (houses two urns)
Parshallville Cemetery is located on Parshallville Road.

Smith Cemetery, also known as Griswold Cemetery, is located on Cullen Road, south of Clyde Road.
{No maps available.}
Hartland, Smith and Parshallville Cemeteries currently do not have any gravesites available for purchase. Lots are only being sold in the Hodge Cemetery expansion area, and lots can only be purchased by Township residents.
Ordinance 72 Cemetery Use and Maintenance
The Township is currently researching and updating cemetery records. If you have copies of cemetery deeds, receipts, proofs of purchase or other burial records, we would appreciate it if you could send copies or stop by Township Hall at your convenience. We will make a copy of the documents to ensure that our files are historically accurate. Please feel free to also mail or email copies to us, if you prefer.
