Surveys and Studies
Citizen Survey
In 2019, Hartland Township commissioned a survey of its residents to measure their satisfaction on many subjects, from police protection to parks. The results of the survey found that Hartland Township exceeded state, Midwest and national benchmarks for community satisfaction.
A similar survey of its residents was undertaken in 2012 and served as a roadmap by which Township officials determined priorities.
The survey will be administered every three years to ensure that the Township actions reflect the priorities of Hartland residents. Our next survey will be going out to residents during late summer/early fall of 2023.
Business Survey
In 2014, Hartland Township surveyed businesses within our community to determine if local government could better serve this important sector. As a result of the survey, the Township put in place initiatives designed to better communicate with our businesses.
In 2016, Hartland Township conducted a follow-up survey with our community businesses. The resultsshowed increased satisfaction with the Township overall and helped identify areas where the Township may be more helpful to businesses.
Residential Market Potential Study
Hartland Township commissioned a Residential Market Potential Study in 2014 to forecast housing demands and growth in the next five years. The study anticipates that 500 new homes and rentals will be needed to meet demand in the next five to six years.
The study is important for two reasons. First, it provides the Planning Commission and Board with an analysis upon which to base the Future Land Use Plan. Secondly, this report can be shared with residential developers interested in this community so they better understand Hartland Township’s projected housing needs.
