Water Billing
Hartland Township operates the municipal water system, serving nearly 600 residents. The Township works diligently to control water costs, but an aging infrastructure and strains to the system require strategic preventative maintenance that can be costly. The Township has taken steps to stabilize the fund, including managing the water system in-house.
In an effort to help our residents on the municipal system better budget for water bills, the Township has implemented an annual increase rather than quarterly increases. While the net amount is the same, our residents have told us that it is easier to know the rates for a 12-month period as opposed to quarterly notices. If you have questions on your water bill, please contact the Finance Department at (810) 632-7498.
Water Fee Schedule
Meters are read at the end of each quarter and bills are mailed around the 10th of the following month. Please check your water meter to make sure usage was recorded properly. High metered usage is often caused by irrigation systems and leaking toilets or faucets. For residents on municipal water and sewer, separate irrigation meters may be purchased at the Township Hall to segregate household usage from irrigation usage, which can result in a large savings.
